When My Multiplication Tables Don't Match GOD'S Calculator
Citizens of HEAVEN · Living on Earth
When My Multiplication Tables Don't Match GOD'S Calculator is the message Pastor Hector Boucet brought to The Gathering Church on June 28, 2026 — a powerful word about surrendering our human math to the infinite wisdom and provision of GOD.
Pastor Hector Boucet
Have you ever sat down with a calculator, punched in every number you know, and still come up with an answer that doesn't match your situation? What do you do when your best math says impossible — and GOD says otherwise?
“The disciples were looking at supply, but JESUS was looking at possibilities.”
There are moments in every believer's life when the numbers simply refuse to add up. The bills are real, the diagnosis is real, the timeline is impossible — and no matter how many times you recalculate, the answer comes back the same. Pastor Hector Boucet opened this Sunday's message by anchoring the congregation in a question we have all asked: what happens when my multiplication tables don't match GOD'S calculator? The answer, rooted in Isaiah 55:8-9, is that GOD'S thoughts are not our thoughts, and HIS ways are not our ways — and that is not a problem. That is a promise.
Throughout the message Pastor Boucet called the church to stop trusting in human mathematics — what we see, what we count, what we sense — and to begin placing everything into GOD'S hands. When we add our loaves and our fishes and come up short, JESUS is not looking at supply. HE is looking at possibilities. And the moment we surrender what we are holding back, HIS calculator changes everything.
“For MY thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways MY ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are MY ways higher than your ways, and MY thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:8-9 NKJV
GOD Multiplies What Looks Insufficient
The first great truth of this sermon came from the feeding of the five thousand. In John 6:9-13, a young boy offers five loaves of bread and two fish — a calculation that makes no sense for a crowd of thousands. Pastor Boucet broke it down with clarity: five plus two, by human math, is seven. Not enough. But JESUS calculates differently. Five plus two, plus GOD'S blessing, equals more than enough. The five thousand ate. Twelve baskets remained. Nothing about that math should have worked — and yet it did.
The pastor pressed the congregation to examine what they have been calling insufficient. Is it resources? Strength? Time? GOD is not limited by what you bring to the table. HE is limited only by what you refuse to place in HIS hands. The disciples saw lack. JESUS saw provision. The miracle did not happen in spite of the insufficiency — it happened through it. What is impossible in your hands becomes possible in GOD'S hands.
“All things are possible to him who believes.”
Mark 9:23 NKJV
“
“Five plus two, plus GOD'S blessing — and that would be more than enough. That is exactly what happened here.”

GOD'S Timing Does Not Fit Our Calendar
The second point Pastor Boucet brought was perhaps the most personal: the agony of waiting when every moment feels like a delay. He turned to John 11:1-44 and the story of Lazarus. Lazarus was sick. The sisters sent word to JESUS. And JESUS intentionally waited. From every human viewpoint, HIS timing made no sense. By the time HE arrived, Lazarus had been dead four days. The sisters believed JESUS had come too late. The crowd thought HE had failed.
But JESUS was not measuring time. HE was preparing a miracle. JESUS raised Lazarus from the dead — not in spite of the delay, but because of it. What looked late to everyone else was perfectly on time for GOD. Pastor Boucet spoke directly to the congregation: “JESUS is never late, and HE is never early. HE is just on time.” What you have been praying for — that situation that looks buried and beyond hope — GOD'S calculator is not malfunctioning. HE is simply preparing something greater than what you originally imagined. Sometimes GOD delays what we expect because HE wants to do something far beyond what we asked for.
“Not MY will, but YOURS, be done.”
Luke 22:42 NKJV
The pastor challenged the congregation honestly — how many times have we told GOD we are done, we have given up, the numbers do not add up? And GOD looks back at us and says, “Okay, what do you have to tell ME?” HE is never rattled by our frustration. What looks late to us is often perfectly on time for HIM. The call is to trust HIS wisdom when HIS plans make no sense and to trust HIS provision when the resources appear insufficient.
When My Multiplication Tables Don't Match GOD'S Calculator — HE Uses Weakness as a Multiplier
The third and most surprising truth Pastor Boucet delivered was this: GOD does not need your strength. HE is waiting for your weakness. In 2 Corinthians 12:9, PAUL writes, “MY grace is sufficient for you, for MY strength is made perfect in weakness.” We think strong people accomplish great things. GOD says dependent people accomplish great things. HE is not limited by your weakness — HE is unleashed by it.
Pastor Boucet shared with vulnerability from his own life — that there was a time he was terrified to stand behind a pulpit, that Gideon-like fear of being completely unqualified. But GOD used Moses. GOD used Gideon. GOD uses the afraid, the insufficient, the ones who say there is no way I can do this. When you reach the end of your strength, GOD begins to display HIS. The congregation was reminded: the world says seeing is believing. GOD says believing is seeing. Believe first. Then watch HIM move.
The sermon closed with a corporate prayer of surrender led by Pastor Boucet — the congregation repeating phrase by phrase: “FATHER, we surrender our calculations to YOU. Forgive us for limiting YOU according to what we can see. Help us trust YOUR wisdom. Help us trust YOUR timing. Help us trust YOUR provision.” It was a moment of release, of letting go of the calculator and trusting the ONE whose math has never failed.
“Never allow your calculations to limit GOD'S possibilities. Because GOD'S calculator has never, ever failed.”
Pastor Hector Boucet
Whatever situation you are carrying right now — the number that will not add up, the door that will not open, the healing that has not come — you serve a GOD whose calculator includes faith, whose timing is perfect, and whose strength is most powerfully displayed in your weakness. Surrender the calculator. Place it in HIS hands. Trust that when you see lack, HE sees provision. When you see impossibility, HE sees opportunity. When you see an ending, HE is already writing the beginning.

Reflect & Respond
What situation in your life right now are you calculating with your own math instead of trusting GOD'S? What would it look like to open your hands today and place it — all of it — into HIS?
