A Mandate of Love: Prophet Nancy’s Journey with The Gathering

When Prophet Nancy moved to Puerto Rico in 2013, she didn’t plan to stay. She was newly retired, content in the States, and had only intended to visit her family on the island for a few months. But after hearing the audible voice of God telling her, “You are needed here,” her life took a prophetic turn—and so did the life of The Gathering church.

In the early days, The Gathering hadn’t yet formed. Nancy spent time in various churches but found herself called into deeper waters. When she first heard about an English-speaking service through friends and began visiting The Gathering occasionally, she knew God had something more in store. She became close with Pastors Hector and Miriama during the transition of leadership and soon realized her role: to help shepherd in a new prophetic dimension.

“The Lord told me to introduce the prophetic slowly,” Nancy recalls. “I had to be sensitive to the spiritual level of the body. I couldn’t just come in and release everything at once.”

From monthly preaching to personal words of knowledge, Nancy became a prophetic voice for the church, helping guide and encourage not just individuals, but the entire body toward maturity. She shared how God gave her a clear vision: The Gathering would become a prophetic launching pad—a place where people would be equipped and then sent into the world to minister.

And it wasn’t just her voice that carried the message. Nancy brought prophetic movement and mime, worship dance, and intercessory expression into the heart of The Gathering. She taught that worship is spiritual warfare, and that music and movement can carry the “sound of heaven” when offered as a surrendered vessel to God.

“The atmosphere shifted to love,” she recalls of one multi-church gathering where she was asked to speak over each congregation. “When The Gathering came forward, the whole room changed. The Lord said their call was to carry the love of the Father.”

Over the years, Nancy has seen The Gathering grow—from just a handful of people to a thriving congregation with new visitors nearly every week. But what matters most to her is not numbers—it’s the transformation.

“I’ve seen people change. I can feel it. Even if I don’t know their names, I sense what God is doing in their hearts.”

Nancy’s own story of transformation began when she was just 18. She encountered Jesus through a dream during her college years, and her neighbor interpreted it—explaining it was a vision of the Great Tribulation. That same night, she gave her life to Christ after hearing the audible voice of God confirm her salvation.

Since then, Nancy has walked in deep spiritual waters. She was part of the early prophetic movement led by Bill Hamon, participated in prophetic mime and dance for over 15 years, and has been trained under apostolic leadership in spiritual warfare and intercession. She has ministered through Harp and Bowl worship, spontaneous song, and prophetic prayer across states and nations.

Today, Nancy continues to be a spiritual mother to many. Though caring for her elderly mother makes travel and ministry less frequent, she still goes wherever the Lord sends her—and the pastors who know her trust her implicitly.

“I always ask God, ‘Show me their heart,’” Nancy says. “Let me confirm, correct, or encourage—whatever You need.”

She carries a special burden for churches not to become “too churched”—too structured or safe. Instead, she calls for escalation, expansion, and intimacy with God. She sees The Gathering as carrying a mantle that requires deep relationship with the Father—because only intimacy will sustain us in the days ahead.

“Don’t lower your standards,” she says. “You carry something deep. Let God take you higher. The people need what you carry.”

As Nancy reflected on her life and ministry, one verse came to mind—one she’s lived by for decades:

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

(Philippians 4:13)

It’s a powerful truth from someone who once preferred to stay quiet in the corner—now boldly proclaiming the Word of the Lord and ministering healing, encouragement, and transformation wherever she goes.

Nancy’s final message to The Gathering is simple, but strong:

“I’m so proud of you. Keep going. I see the evidence of God’s work in your lives. Stay focused. Don’t limit God. He’s doing something great through you—and it’s only the beginning.”
