Don't Go Back Preparing for Your Restoration

Citizens of HEAVEN · Living on Earth

Don't Go Back is the urgent word Pastor Hector Boucet delivered to The Gathering Church on June 7, 2026 — a prophetic call to guard the freedom GOD has already given you and press forward into the restoration HE is preparing.

Pastor Hector Boucet, Lead Pastor of The Gathering Church in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico

Pastor Hector Boucet

Have you ever been set free from something — a wound, a habit, a broken relationship — only to feel the pull to go back? GOD did not bring you out so you could return. HE brought you out so you could stay out.
“The greatest tragedy is not what you went through. The greatest tragedy is being delivered — and then returning to what GOD delivered you from.”
For three weeks, The Gathering had been walking through the power of forgiveness — forgiving others, releasing offenses, forgiving yourself. But Pastor Hector opened this Sunday with a sobering reminder: freedom, once received, must be actively protected. There is a very real danger of winning the battle and then retreating to the same prison.
Using the teaching of JESUS in Luke 11:24–26, Pastor Hector laid the foundation: when an unclean spirit departs, it looks for a way back. The enemy is not only concerned with keeping you bound — he is concerned with bringing you back into bondage after GOD has set you free.
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which CHRIST has made us free.”
Galatians 5:1 — NKJV

Point 1: Freedom Must Be Protected — Don't Go Back

Paul did not simply say “receive freedom.” He said stand in it. Freedom is a gift, but maintaining freedom requires intentional vigilance. After GOD brings forgiveness, the work is to guard your heart, your thoughts, your relationships, and your spiritual life so the enemy cannot repossess what GOD has cleansed.
Pastor Hector pointed to two powerful examples from Scripture. Israel was delivered from Egypt — and still longed to return. Lot's wife was rescued from Sodom — and looked back anyway. Disobedience to GOD's “don't go back” is never small. When GOD closes a door, HE closes it for your sake. The instruction is not just directional — it is protective.
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which CHRIST has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.”
Galatians 5:1 — NKJV
A prophetic declaration was released over the congregation: “What GOD delivers me from will not reclaim me.” That is not wishful thinking — it is a covenant stance. When the enemy whispers that you should go back, you answer with the authority CHRIST has placed in you: not today.
“The greatest tragedy is being delivered — and then returning to what GOD delivered you from.”
— Pastor Hector Boucet

Point 2: Empty Places Attract Old Bondage — Fill the Void

JESUS taught in Luke 11 that when an unclean spirit leaves a person, it wanders and then returns — and if it finds the house swept but empty, it brings seven more spirits worse than itself. The danger is not just in going back. The danger is in leaving vacant the space GOD cleared.
Many believers remove bitterness but never replace it with love. They remove guilt but never embrace grace. They release offense but never fill themselves with GOD's Word. When GOD empties something from your life, HE expects you to fill that place with HIS presence — with prayer, worship, Scripture, fellowship, and service. Whatever is not from the LORD must be deleted and replaced, not simply removed.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of GOD.”
Romans 12:2 — NKJV
Restoration requires a new mindset. Many people want a new life but carry an old mentality. The enemy attacks the mind because he knows your life follows your thoughts. The moment you recognize his voice, rebuke him in the name of JESUS — and call someone. You were never meant to fight this battle alone. The body of CHRIST exists to pray for one another, stand with one another, and keep one another from going back.

Point 3: Don't Go Back — Expect GOD to Rebuild What Was Broken

The enemy whispers: it's over, it's ruined, it's too late, you don't qualify. But when the enemy says it's over, GOD says HE is restoring. When the enemy says you've failed, GOD points to Peter, to David, to the prodigal son — people who stumbled and were not discarded but rebuilt. That is the FATHER we serve.
Isaiah 61:4 declares that they shall rebuild the old ruins — and that is exactly what GOD is focused on in your life right now. Not what was lost, but what HE is about to rebuild. You cannot walk into GOD's future while living in yesterday's pain. Stop looking at what you lost. Fix your eyes on what GOD is about to do.
“And they shall rebuild the old ruins, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations.”
Isaiah 61:4 — NKJV
This week, before the final message in this forgiveness series, Pastor Hector issued a prophetic challenge to every member of The Gathering — and to everyone watching on Facebook Live: ask the LORD, “What areas of my life are YOU preparing to restore?” Come expecting. A relationship, a dream, a calling, a ministry, a marriage, a passion for GOD — whatever it is, bring it to HIM. What GOD is about to restore will be greater than what was lost.
“Forgiveness is not the end of the story. Restoration is coming.”
Pastor Hector Boucet — June 7, 2026
Whatever GOD has freed you from — don't go back. HE did not bring you out to return you to the same place. HE brought you out to rebuild you into something greater. Stand in that freedom. Fill the empty places with HIS presence. And get ready — because restoration is not coming someday. Restoration is coming now.

Reflect & Respond
Is there a door GOD has already closed in your life that you keep trying to reopen? What would it look like this week to fill that empty place with HIS presence instead of going back?
