Word to the Gathering Family Church
Word to the Gathering Family Church was the powerful message Apóstol David Rusi brought to The Gathering Church on Tuesday evening, May 26, 2026 — a word rooted in Matthew 25 and the parable of the ten virgins, calling every believer to stop surviving and start preparing for all GOD has promised.

Apóstol David Rusi has been pastoring for over 25 years, beginning when he was just 21 years old. He serves as the Founding and Lead Pastor of Ciudad Refugio JESUCRISTO es EL SEÑOR, a multi-campus ministry headquartered in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, overseeing more than 20 churches. His ministry is marked by a deep passion for the kingdom of GOD, authentic discipleship, and raising up servants who carry the oil of the HOLY SPIRIT.
“Greater the word, greater the prophecy — greater the preparation. You don’t start building the ark when it starts raining.”
— Apóstol David Rusi
On the evening of May 26, 2026, The Gathering Church welcomed a special guest — Apóstol David Rusi of Ciudad Refugio JESUCRISTO es EL SEÑOR — for what became a fire-filled, kingdom-shifting Bible Course session. Though Sundays are complicated for him due to his demanding multi-campus schedule, Apóstol Rusi made the commitment to come on a Tuesday, and the congregation received more than they could have imagined.
The message was not one he prepared specifically for The Gathering — it was the same word the LORD had been burning in his heart all weekend across six campuses. That alone was confirmation: this was a word for the season, a word GOD intended for this house. And so, with the warmth of a father and the boldness of an apostle, he opened Matthew 25 and began to speak about something the church can no longer afford to neglect — the oil.
Key Scripture · Matthew 25:13
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.”
1. We Are a Sleeping Church — But Oil Changes Everything
Apóstol Rusi opened with a truth that stung a little — and was meant to. All ten virgins in the parable fell asleep. Not just five. All ten. That is the condition of much of the modern church: comfortable, distracted, surviving rather than preparing. The AC is too cold. The service is too long. Netflix gets more hours than the WORD. He was not pointing fingers — he acknowledged that every single one of us has had seasons of spiritual drowsiness.
But then he drew the critical distinction. What separated the five wise virgins from the five foolish ones was not their calling, not their appearance, not even their intentions. They all had lamps. They were all in the same place, expecting the same event. The only difference was the extra oil. And that oil, he said with clarity, represents the HOLY SPIRIT — HIS anointing, HIS presence, HIS power flowing through yielded vessels.
Matthew 25:3–4 · NIV
“The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.”
“You can’t have fire without oil. Tonight you are here on a Tuesday night getting extra oil. Every time you come to church, you are getting extra oil.”

2. Living Prepared Means Valuing the Present Season
One of the most piercing points of the evening was the apostle’s word about the process. We are so fixated on the ending — the promise, the promotion, the suddenly — that we fail to value and honor the season we are in right now. The foolish virgins did not calculate correctly. They had the same opportunity as the wise ones but did not take seriously what it meant to be prepared.
Apóstol Rusi used the image of a bride on her wedding day. She wakes up every single morning not knowing when the bridegroom will arrive, yet she puts on her best, guards her dress, and keeps herself ready. She does not play volleyball in her wedding gown. She is careful about what she eats and who she associates with — because she values what she is wearing and WHO she is waiting for. That, he said, is the church JESUS is calling us to be. Living prepared. 24/7. Not surviving — preparing.
He spoke directly to The Gathering’s children’s ministry training — calling it a prophetic act of preparation. You cannot pray for kids to come if you have no place to receive them. You do not build the ark when the rain starts. Preparation is the act of faith that says: GOD, I believe what YOU said, and I am getting ready before it arrives.
Isaiah 40:31 · NIV
“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
3. Word to the Gathering Family Church: Guard Your Oil and Serve Where You Stand
The final kingdom principle was both a warning and a freedom. The foolish virgins asked the wise ones for their oil. And the wise ones said no — not out of selfishness, but out of wisdom. There are people who will not seek their own oil. They will try to live off your anointing, drain your spiritual energy, and make you feel guilty for guarding what GOD gave you. Apóstol Rusi was clear: you cannot give what is not yours to give. You can point them to the Source, but you cannot be their source.
He closed with a kingdom truth about promotion: greatness in the kingdom comes through serving. He pointed to the biblical David — if he had not been faithfully carrying sandwiches to his brothers on the battlefield, he never would have seen Goliath. He never would have had the moment. Promotion always finds the faithful servant. Not the title-seeker. Not the one asking when it is their turn. The one who keeps showing up and keeps serving — even when no one is watching.
He looked out at The Gathering family and declared: your greatest title will never be apostle, pastor, or prophet. Your greatest title will always be son. Your greatest title is being a child of THE FATHER. That is the kingdom mentality. That is what it means to be living prepared.
“You want to be great in the kingdom? Serve. That’s it. That’s the word. That’s the kingdom.”
Apóstol David Rusi closed the evening in prayer, speaking a powerful apostolic blessing over The Gathering Church — declaring it a Bethel, a house of GOD, a door of heaven. He called forth souls from the north, south, east, and west. He spoke healing — spiritual, emotional, and physical — over everyone who walks through those doors. He blessed Pastor Hector Boucet and Pastora Miriama with a deeper revelation of the WORD and a greater growth anointing. And then he left The Gathering with a charge that will echo for a long time: be ready. Stay filled. Keep the oil. And serve.

Reflect & Respond
Do you have extra oil — or are you running on empty? Are you living prepared for what GOD has spoken over your life, or are you still waiting for the promise without doing the preparation? This week, ask the HOLY SPIRIT: where do I need more oil? Then come get it.
