Carry the Anointing, Guard Your Character

Citizens of HEAVEN · Living on Earth

Carry the Anointing, Guard Your Character is the piercing charge Prophetess Nancy Castro brought to The Gathering Church in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico — a word about what the anointing truly is, and what it costs to keep it. That is the message Prophetess Nancy Castro delivered on July 12, 2026.

Prophetess Nancy Castro – Prophetess of The Gathering

Prophetess Nancy Castro

How many of you have been anointed by the LORD? Prophetess Nancy Castro opened with that question before turning the congregation’s attention to a harder one: what does it cost to carry that anointing well, without it ever costing you your character?

“Anointing is what breaks the yoke.”

Guest to The Gathering Church, Prophet Nancy Castro is no stranger to this congregation. She has visited before to deliver prophetic words given to her directly by GOD, and she returned on July 12 with a teaching on anointing before closing the service in personal ministry over the congregation. Before she ever got to the oil, she asked the room a simple question: have you had any yokes hanging around? Because for Prophetess Nancy Castro, the anointing is not decoration. It is deliverance.
She reminded The Gathering Church that anointing is, at its root, a divine grace — GOD granting a person supernatural authority and the ability required to do HIS work. But HE does not stop at giving power. Scripture is clear that GOD is far more concerned with the heart than the appearance, and Prophetess Nancy Castro built her entire message around that tension: the gift GOD gives versus the character required to keep it.
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of GOD.”
Romans 3:23

What Is the Anointing?

Prophetess Nancy Castro defined anointing plainly: to smear, to consecrate, to dedicate someone to a sacred role. It is a ritual that symbolizes the presence of the HOLY SPIRIT and represents divine grace — the extra grace that falls on a person when they are anointed, steadying the mind and bringing peace in a moment that desperately needs it. Historically, anointed oil was a rich olive oil mixed with fragrant spices, used as a physical symbol of setting someone apart as holy, for protection, and for healing.

“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

1 Samuel 16:7 — Read on Bible Gateway
“Anointing may open doors, but character determines whether you can faithfully remain what GOD has placed you.”
— Prophetess Nancy Castro

Three Levels of Anointing: Leper, Priestly, and Kingly

Prophetess Nancy Castro walked The Gathering Church through three distinct levels of anointing. The first, leper anointing, is the anointing of salvation and dwelling — the moment a person first accepts JESUS CHRIST and receives personal transformation, redeemed from sin and brought into communion with GOD. The second, priestly anointing, has to do with service and ministry. It is gained through constant fellowship and devotion to the LORD, and it is the level at which GOD begins showing believers what HE wants them to do, to have, and to be, equipping them for specific callings within the church and community.

“Be holy, for I am holy.”

1 Peter 1:16 — Read on Bible Gateway
The third, kingly anointing, is a higher level reserved for mature believers — not for a baby in CHRIST, Prophetess Nancy Castro said, but for those who carry dominion and authority. This anointing gives the faith to minister with power, to overcome spiritual challenges, and to impact the world GOD has placed a believer in. Every level, she reminded the church, exists to help a believer grow and mature, and to recognize how GOD reveals HIMSELF in them, moves through them, and out of them.

Carry the Anointing, Guard Your Character Every Day

Prophetess Nancy Castro was direct about the danger of separating gift from character. Anointing may open doors, she said, but character is what determines whether a person can faithfully remain in the place GOD has set them. Many desire power, influence, and spiritual gifts, yet few pursue the character required to sustain them. Character is formed in a secret place — cultivated through prayer, obedience, repentance, correction, accountability, faithfulness, patience, and complete surrender to GOD. While the anointing may come in a moment, character is developed over a lifetime.
She warned that character without humility becomes pride, character without integrity becomes manipulation, and character without self-control lets spiritual authority be abused rather than used to glorify GOD. Hidden flaws left unaddressed in the heart become an open door for the enemy, feeding depression, anxiety, and a stuck, stagnant walk with the LORD. But there is no shame required to be free — only honesty, and a willingness to let GOD expose what needs exposing so HIS anointing can flow without hindrance.
“The tree is known by its fruit. So what kind of fruit are you bearing?”
— Prophetess Nancy Castro
You are held accountable for what you produce, Prophetess Nancy Castro told The Gathering Church, because your fruit touches other lives. Whatever GOD has anointed you to carry, let your character be strong enough to carry it well — not for how it looks to others, but because HE is worthy of nothing less.
