Course Review and Reinforcement — Part 4, Maximizing Your Marriage Series

Citizens of HEAVEN · Living on Earth

Course Review and Reinforcement is what Part 4 of Maximizing Your Marriage became this week at The Gathering Church, as Pastor Angel Luis Rosa paused the series on September 15, 2026 to look back before pressing forward — reinforcing GOD’s B.E.S.T. framework for marriage and sending couples home with a hands-on assignment instead of new material.

GOD didn’t design marriage to run on a decision made once. Pastor Angel Luis Rosa says even the strongest couples need reinforcement — a foundation revisited, a conversation practiced, an assignment carried home.

“You cannot do what GOD requires of you until you understand that marriage is about doing GOD’s will, not your own.”

This week’s Bible Course looked different by design. Rather than opening new ground, Pastor Angel Luis Rosa handed out worksheets recapping Blessed and Edified before opening the class into Sharing and Touching — and given the personal, tender nature of that material, no cameras rolled this week. What follows is a review built from the written course material itself, covering the public sections of the lesson couples took home.
Four weeks in, the B.E.S.T. framework Pastor Rosa has been building is now complete: Blessed, Edify, Share, and Touch. Every letter, he has reminded the class from week one, is grounded in scripture and in GOD’s own design for marriage — not in feelings, and not in guesswork.
“But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Joshua 24:15

Reinforcing the Foundation: Blessed and Edified Revisited

The review handout returned to the golden rule of the whole series: a wife’s flesh will naturally resist submission until she receives a genuine revelation from GOD’s WORD, and a husband who doesn’t understand unconditional love will find it impossible to actually love his wife the way CHRIST loved the church. The most important aspect of a Christian marriage, the worksheet reminded the class, is unselfish love — the glue that holds the relationship together. Couples are called to be a blessing to each other, never a burden. As a personal spiritual step, every student was assigned to read 1 Corinthians 13 this week and pray that GOD would help them love their spouse deeper and more unselfishly.
On Edify, the class revisited the foundation rule: what is the first thing you must do before you build a house? You set a strong foundation — because when construction stops, the building stops. Speaking well of your spouse, especially in front of others, was named as a shield of trust around the marriage, while genuine compliments were tied back to the brain biology Pastor Rosa taught in Part 3 — the chemical response that makes a person feel happy and lowers stress. Thriving couples, the handout reinforced, run on a ratio of several positive interactions for every single negative one.

“By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established.”

Proverbs 24:3

Course Review and Reinforcement: Mastering the Art of Sharing and Touching

Lesson 2 opened with what the handout calls the Bridge Principle of Intimacy: emotional connection is the bridge to physical intimacy, and if a couple doesn’t help build that bridge, they cannot cross over. Share, the class learned, means being completely open and transparent with each other through deep, regular communication — and the material walked through five dangerous stages that unfold when couples skip those deep conversations instead: dissatisfaction, anger, rejection, bitterness, and finally a closed spirit. That last stage was named the danger zone — the point where someone completely shuts down, checks out, and thinks, “I just don’t care anymore,” leaving a couple to live like roommates sharing the same bed but a million miles apart. The solution the handout offered was simple to state and hard to live: true oneness only happens when a couple invests real time into sharing intimately with each other.
Touch was introduced as connecting both spirit and body, and the course was careful to define its terms. Non-sexual touch means tender, affectionate contact with no hidden agenda — the kind of touch marriage experts say most spouses need daily to feel emotionally secure and connected. The brain biology behind it centers on a chemical the material identifies as oxytocin, the hormone touch triggers that builds trust and emotional bonding while lowering stress. The course grounded all of it in scripture, reminding the class that physical intimacy in marriage is a shared responsibility built on equal respect, mutual consideration, and protection against temptation — with a direct caution not to let exhaustion or complacency quietly suffocate what GOD designed to bind a couple together.

“The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband… Do not deprive each other, except perhaps by agreement for a set time, so that Satan may not tempt you.”

1 Corinthians 7:3-5

The Assignment: Putting Maximizing Your Marriage Into Practice

True to the workshop’s format, the class didn’t leave with information alone — they left with an assignment, in five phases. Phase one is to establish love and appreciation: write a love letter focused entirely on appreciation rather than expectations, then follow it with action, like breakfast in bed with fresh flowers. Phase two asks couples to understand the rhythm, framed as the “crock-pot and microwave” mindset — women tend to process connection slowly, like a crock-pot, while men can move like a microwave, and honoring that difference throughout the day builds the foundation of a strong marriage.
Phase three calls couples to create distraction-free time — clearing the schedule, arranging childcare if needed, and taking a walk or a drive together. Phase four is the meaningful conversation itself: set a date to talk, keep the boundary firm so it never turns into an argument or a stressful business meeting, and share your hopes, dreams, and vision for the marriage and family. Phase five closes the assignment with spiritual covering and protection — recognizing that there is a real spiritual battle aimed at every marriage, declaring GOD’s promises in the mighty name of JESUS, and resting in the truth that it is GOD’s ultimate will for a marriage to thrive.
For couples who want to go deeper on their own, Pastor Rosa’s recommended reading list rounded out the handout: Love Is a Decision by Gary Smalley, Romancing Your Marriage by Norman Wright, and The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman.
“It is GOD’s ultimate will for your marriage to thrive and be the absolute best.”

Course Review and Reinforcement wasn’t a step back for Maximizing Your Marriage — it was the mortar between the bricks. Blessed, Edify, Share, and Touch now stand together as one framework, and the assignment sends every couple home this week with something to actually do, not just something to remember.

No Video Available This Week

Given the personal nature of this week’s lesson on Sharing and Touching, the class was not recorded, and no Facebook Live video is available for September 15, 2026. This post reflects the public, written course material Pastor Angel Luis Rosa distributed in class.

Reflect & Respond

Of the five phases in this week’s assignment, which one will you take the lead on tonight — and what’s really stopping you from starting?
