Speak the Name of Jesus

At The Gathering last week, we were reminded of a simple truth with eternal power: there is no name like the name of Jesus. When we speak His name, we’re not just uttering a word—we’re invoking heaven’s authoritypeacehealing, and salvation.

“Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord…”

— Philippians 2:9–11

When we say the name of Jesus from deep inside our hearts—especially when we’re afraid, anxious, or overwhelmed—something shifts. Something powerful is unleashed. And even when we don’t have the words for a long, eloquent prayer, “Jesus” alone is a complete prayer. He knows. He hears. He responds.

Speak Jesus Over Fear

Fear is a familiar intruder in many of our lives—whether it’s fear of sickness, financial uncertainty, the unknown, or simply the weight of daily life. But Scripture reminds us that fear is not from God.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

— 2 Timothy 1:7

When fear comes knocking, we have a weapon: the name of Jesus. His name is stronger than the voices of fear and anxiety. It silences the lies of the enemy. We can speak “Jesus” over our thoughts, over our homes, over our children, and even over the fear we can’t quite name. His name brings clarity, calm, and courage.

Speak Jesus Over Darkness and Depression

Jesus said He is the Light of the world—and light always pierces the darkness. If you’re walking through depression, anxiety, or emotional oppression, you’re not alone. The enemy loves to isolate and accuse, but he flees at the sound of one name: Jesus.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

— John 1:5

There is no shame in struggle. And there is no darkness too deep for Jesus’ light. Speak His name even when you feel numb. Even when it feels like nothing is changing. Your voice may tremble, but His power never does.

Speak Jesus Over Your Healing

Jesus still heals—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Sometimes we hesitate to pray bold prayers because we fear disappointment. But God is still in the healing business. And He has given us the authority to pray in His name.

“In My name… they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

— Mark 16:17–18

Healing may look different than we expect, but we can trust that when we speak Jesus over sickness, we invite His presence into the process. Don’t let doubt silence your declaration. Jesus is still Healer.

Speak Jesus Over Your Salvation

At the heart of the gospel is this truth: the name of Jesus is the only name by which we are saved. His name holds eternal power—not just for our struggles here on earth, but for our souls.

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

— Acts 4:12

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

— Romans 10:13

There’s no formula. No checklist. Just a heart that calls out, “Jesus, save me.” That’s where new life begins. That’s where chains break. That’s where hope is born.

Your Turn: Speak Jesus

Over your past.

Over your future.

Over your children.

Over your workplace.

Over your pain.

Over your healing.

Over your mind.

Over your community.

Speak Jesus.

He is listening. He is near. And He is still mighty to save.

“At the name of Jesus every knee will bow… and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”

— Philippians 2:10–11
